Welcome to the Gauge One Model Railway Association Forum

This is a forum to discuss and promote all aspects of 'real railways in miniature' covering G1MRA's historical "broad church", but with particular emphasis on Standard Gauge.

If you are interested in Gauge 1 but not yet a member, click the link to 'G1MRA Website' above for benefits of Membership, and how to join the Association.

Members who enjoy email discussion are also welcome at the 'G1MRA Yahoo Group' - link above.

Any Post that is both relevant and considerate is welcome, including models, methods and meetings. Disagreement adds spice, as long as we take the other guy's integrity for granted. (Because the topics build up into a Reference archive, posts may be edited for clarity, brevity, relevance and courtesy, just like any other publication.)

The practical expertise of professional members is welcome, indeed almost all of us depend on them for our hobby. Suppliers are welcome to discuss future products and give us breaking news of goods and services. (On the other hand product releases and display advertisements are welcomed by the Association Newsletter and Journal, where they reach the whole Membership.)

We can certainly discuss problems with products in order to find fixes for them, but please direct criticisms and pursue disputes direct, or through Trading Standards rather than here.

This is a privately run service, independent of the Association and funded entirely by the Owner. Naturally we are all interested in improving the Association, but specific criticisms and disputes need to be taken directly to the Board. We only represent a small fraction of the membership and while we can air opinions we can't take on the role of a General Meeting.

If ever you are unsure about whether a message is appropriate, by all means run it past me first. If ever I'm unsure about your messages, I'll pre-view them for a while so that we can strike a balance between us. As a rule of thumb please avoid sour, cynical, critical, impatient. Go for tolerant, encouraging, informative, entertaining.

David Halfpenny,   Owner
